Braces are used to treat the teeth in high school. Treatment generally commences from the age of 12-13 years and upwards.
At Eastern Suburbs Orthodontics we use the Damon system. It is the most advanced bracket in the world and has the lowest friction values, which enables efficient tooth movement and reduces treatment duration.
Cases are planned using highly accurate 3D computer simulations and then the braces are placed on the teeth using a procedure called indirect bonding. This ensures an accurate bracket position, which distinctly enhances the treatment result while reducing the treatment duration and number of overall appointments.
There are two bracket options - metal or clear ceramic braces. The metal brackets are small and have a low profile making them more hygienic and comfortable. The clear ceramic brackets are more aesthetic but can increase the length of treatment.
The average treatment duration is 16 months. However, this amount can vary depending on the severity of the case and the cooperation of the patient.
